I grew up with a large chip on my shoulder in an unsupportive household. Around 16 years old, I migrated towards Muay Thai under the tutelage of Kru Chris Greg at TKO Fighting Arts. Fitness and the aspect of fighting drew me in but initially, I never took it too seriously. I started to ramp up my training and was taking on fights whenever I could across Eastern Canada and the USA. I fought for national and provincial amateur titles as well as Eastern Canadian Low Kick title. In 2009, I won an athletic award from CASK for “Athlete with the Most Potential.” I was selected to represent Team Canada in the Worlds in Austria but I was accepted to Georgian College for Health Sciences; I chose school.
As I got older, the draw of competing as a pro fighter became more and more
enticing. With this in mind, I moved to Thailand where it all started. I was
one of the youngest at this camp and stayed for 4 months where I lived in some
very rough conditions. Our training was Monday to Saturday and consisted of
jogging 10 km at 5 am and training from 6-8 am. We ate breakfast and slept
through the hottest hours of the day. We slow jogged 5 km at 3:30 pm and
trained from 4-6 pm. By the end of the training camp, and just before my first
fight, I tore my meniscus. After my first KO fight, I cracked my tibia and
couldn't throw another left kick my entire trip. My second fight happened 3
weeks later with another KO win. A year after that fight I flew back to
Thailand to the same gym and routine and had my 3rd and final KO fight. Around
this time, my commitment in Muay Thai started to waiver due to other
responsibilities in my life and decided to hang up the gloves and relocate to
Alberta for work.
While working in the Edmonton area, I discovered MMA and the team at Hayabusa Training
Centre. This facility has the same camaraderie that drew me to TKO several years
ago. After my first week of training with the Pro Team at Hayabusa, I was hooked.
And, after a few months with this exceptional team, I competed in a couple of grappling
tournaments and found success. Shortly after, I had my first pro MMA bout and
won by TKO in the 3rd round.
Currently, I am one of the head striking coaches at Hayabusa Training Centre and loving
my job. What more could I ask for!
