Tanner Boser
Pro MMA Record12-2
Tanner grew up in a small town called Bonnyville and started training Karate, the only martial art offered in the town, at the age of 11.
By his late teens, he became fascinated with the sport of MMA, albeit only by a spectator standpoint. By age 18, Tanner achieved the rank of Shodan (black belt) in karate.
At the age of 19, a local King Of The Cage show made its way to the Bonnyville area, and Tanner attended. He decided, foolishly, that he could do this with only a Karate background. He called local MMA fighter, Tim Chemelli, and went to train with him.
One bad concussion later, it was evident that there was more to it than he thought. Still, he started doing very rudimentary "MMA training" with his friends, and decided to take his first pro fight at the age of 21. Tanner got beaten severely for the first two rounds before getting a TKO victory over his exhausted opponent late in round 3. A few months after that, Tanner was introduced to Jake Sansom who was a brown belt in BJJ from a Calgary school. He had moved to Bonnyville and was looking to train new guys so he'd have people to roll with. Tanner trained with Jake and some local boxers for his second fight and won in the first round.
Still, he wanted to up his training and get serious about it. He noticed a trend at the local shows he attended; most guys fighting out of a gym called "Hayabusa" were dominating their opponents. So in September of 2013, Tanner moved to St. Albert to train at Hayabusa. Despite lack of any real credentials, they allowed Tanner to join their pro team, where he happily gets humbled on a daily basis. He is now 4-0 and excited to continue his training at Hayabusa and hopes to do so for a long time.
